Back in Holland

After almost 3 weeks we arrived back in Holland. We are staying in Zutphen in a rented bungalow close to my parents house. We are staying there with Mariette and her 2 boys. Great place for the kids to play, bike, swim and just to hang out.

JULY 4 CELEBRATIONS

Canoeing in Gator Country

Yesterday we had a great trip into the Florida swamps. Kathy, Noah, Ayla and I went on a canoeing trip down the river at about 30 mins drive from the house. Thank goodness we could paddle downstream with the current on a 4 mile stretch of the river. Since this is the middle of the rainy season the water was very high which made the trip even more exciting. There was water everywhere and you couldn't say where the river ended or where the forest started. Most of the time it was like we were canoeing in the forest and we had to work hard not to bang into the trees.
Great to be away from TV and computers for a day!!

Summer 4 - USA Florida

Yesterday we went on a little Boys Trip with Adam, Jim, Noah and myself.

We went to the Tropicana Stadium in Tampa to watch the Rays play against the Detroit Tigers.

We almost didn't go because we were worried about the weather....there was a lot of rain and thunder during the day...we didn't feel like sitting in the rain and we we thought that they might cancel the game.
When we got to the stadium we realized that the stadium was some kind of dome and it was all indoors. Yes .... we felt pretty stupid that we didn't check this, Ha!
The Stadium was very nice....one of her nicest that I have ever seen....fully a/c-ed...and very good seats for only $17 p/ticket. Our 4 tickets cost us as much as 1 ticket would have cost us at the Red Sox.  BTW Rays beat the Tigers 4-3, but nobody seemed to care too much about that... :-)
