Mothers Day

Yes, it was Mothers Day again and of course it didnt go by un-noticed in our house. How can one forget, if one's wife keeps making (not so) subtle remarks about her upcoming special day.
Like I would EVER forget, right? We all know what that would mean: D.I.V.O.R.C.E............

So I made sure that the kids did some special things for their very special mother. They had made cards and drawings at school, we made breakfast in bed for mum, we gave her a nice gift and we all were extra nice to her during the day.

Noah's Sports Day

Just like last year I organized a sports day for Noah and his class mates. Actually it was a little more work this time because there were 2 classes involved, but with Lance's help and a few more dads it went pretty smooth. We played 3 simple games with the kids and at the end we had one big fun event in which they could throw wet sponge balls at eachother's heads.
The kids played hard, had lots of fun and got a beautiful certificate with their names printed on it at the end to remember this funfilled day!

Unfortunately I won't be able to do this again next year, since Noah will be moving up to Kindergarten. At that age it will be the PE department's job to organize those days.
But....there is always Ayla........So maybe we will have another mini sportsday next year with Ayla's class.....I will keep you posted!

Here are some impressions of the day

New Bathing Suit

Last month it was Ayla's 3rd birthday and one of Ayla's best gifts was a 'Nijntje' bathing suit from our friends Manon and Arjan from Holland.

It's Ayla's favorite bathing suit and she was more than happy posing in it for you!

Thanks again to Manon and Arjan!

It still rains in Jakarta!!

Normally the rainy season here ends in March or so and we don't see any rain until September . This year things are very different. Every time when we think the rains have stopped , they start up again. We are starting to wonder if we will get a dry season at all this year. It this part of the climate changes that are happening all over the world? We'll see........

Well at least Ayla doesn't mind. Just like Noah, when he was little, she just loves to play in the rain!

Queens Day @ NIS

Jakarta 'colors' orange once a year when the Dutch community celebrates 'Koninginnedag' or Queens Day!

Here are some photos of the festivities at the Dutch school. The kids were supposed to wear traditional clothes and brought their bicycles to school, decorated in red-white-blue and of course...orange.

For the adults there is also an 'Orange Ball' at one of the big hotels, but we usually skip that part.....

On the photo at the bottom left Ayla is posing with her best friend Marie

Here is to Queen Beatrix!!
